Today at the State Board meeting a new Assistant State Superintendent was appointed. Steven Hicks comes to DECD from the Executive Director position at Ready at Five. He has previous experience at the U.S. Department of Education and teaching in California. A start date has not yet been determined.
Additionally, Louis Valenti has been named as the new Licensing Branch Chief. Lou is stepping up into this new level of responsibility from his position as Regional Manager (Howard, Carroll, and Baltimore City). A start date for his new role has not yet been determined.
