The Office of School & Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP) at the Maryland State Department of Education is excited to announce a new position within our Professional Development & Technical Assistance team. The position will focus on supporting centers and family providers participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The information below explains our vision for this role, and how to apply for the position.
Position Title: Staff Specialist III Education, CACFP Training Specialist
The new employee will:
1. Have experience in working within the child care center setting, preferably in a management or supervisory capacity. The ideal candidate would have experience operating the CACFP.
2. Work well within a collaborative team atmosphere at OSCNP, and be able to establish and maintain productive relationships with child care agency staff, as well as partners within the Office of Child Care and other agencies.
3. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for centers and family providers participating in the CACFP.
o Be comfortable, efficient, and effective at providing technical assistance via phone calls and site visits.
o Be able to plan and conduct training sessions, speaking in front of large groups of people.
4. Be able to contribute to the ongoing development and execution of OSCNP’s strategic plan for meeting the training needs to enhance the capacity Maryland child care providers.
5. Be proficient and a “quick study” regarding current technology, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, webinar and conference call systems, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
· EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in Early Childhood Education, Nutrition, Public Health/Administration, Management, or a related area. See note below.
· EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of professional experience in Child nutrition program administration; child care management; or related area is required.
· NOTE: Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s degree.
