Maryland State Department of Education regional offices received notification of an updated FBI form all providers must complete when getting fingerprinted (from Oct 3 going forward) and that the licensing offices must retain on file. Providers completing the form need to indicate (somewhere on the form) the facility where they work, so we know in which file(s) to place the completed form. All providers with an Office of Child Care authorization number were also supposed to receive notification of this requirement.

If you hear of any questions about this, please provide the following links:

MSDE is almost 99% certain this has to do with the pending FBI rap-back system after reviewing the following:

https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/compact-council/privacy-act-statement

The privacy-act-statement indicates that fingerprints will remain on file with the FBI, which is one change that Maryland needed to make to participate in the federal rap-back program.
